FINALLY finished reading Nineteen Eighty Four! It’s very good but it was slow going, I read in bed before going to sleep and every time I read a bit of this I would fall asleep very fast. Often just reading one page before passing out. I found it an interesting story so I’m not entirely sure why I found it so hard to read. I think it’s the style of writing, it was difficult for me to process.

Holiday pictures from last week, I drove on the motorway for the first time! It was nerve wracking. But now I’ve done that, along with scary, teeny, winding Welsh roads and it was all good!

We had some sunny days and went to the beach and some rainy days spent on the sofa, with blankets, binge watching supernatural.

The cottage is near a tiny town but pretty solitary and so quiet! There’s a nice walk that we went on a couple of times with some killer hills. My boyfriend pushed me up one of the hills :-)

We ate in the garden whenever possible and enjoyed our surroundings.

Overall a lovely, relaxing week. I went away desperate for a break from life and I’ve come home in an excellent mood, ready to get back into the swing of things (a bit). The only downside is that during non holiday times my boyfriend and I work opposite days and hours so we don’t ever have a whole day together, this is okay as we’re used to it. But after spending 9 days together solid I feel like I’ve been spoiled with quality time and resent that we can’t spend a day together doing anything or nothing without one of us having to book time off work. I’m very much looking forward to leaving my job as soon as it’s possible!

Swedish Seascape - Story Behind The Still
Late afternoon in Kullens fyr I scoped out this shot, knowing I could create something special here.
Heading back to the van and checking my iPhone to find out when the sun would be setting, I had some food, cleaned all my lenses and filters, and waited. It was a short 5 minute bike ride from the van and another 5 minute walk across some very slippery rocks back to my chosen spot. I started to fire off a few shots but quickly realised that the main drama was happening just behind me, there was a huge storm brewing and I wasn’t going to miss it. After quickly setting up my tripod, battling with the wind and sea spray, I grabbed my Lee Filters; without my Grad filters there was no way I would be able to pull off this shot. I was shooting straight into the sun but also wanted to expose the beautiful foreground. After taking a few test shots I decided it would be nice to show the power and movement of the sea, so I lowered my shutter speed to 0.3 of a second and waited for the waves to continue crashing over the rocks. It all came together and after a few more minutes I had my shot!

The Buddhists say if you meet somebody and your heart pounds, your hands shake, your knees go weak, that’s not the one. When you meet your ‘soul mate’ you’ll feel calm. No anxiety, no agitation (via thebullfighters)

Hmm makes sense I suppose
